Dancing is my passion
I am Anda, founder and manager of the dance school “Colour Point”.
My mother tells me that when I was a child I used to dance all the time I heard music playing. I come from a dynasty of musicians, with three generations of Latvian Conservatoire graduates – my grandfather, mother, father and brother. However, I wasn’t able to sit still at a piano, therefore my parents took me to artistic gymnastics.
I did professional sports from the age of 6 to 15, but my programmes consisted mostly of dance elements rather than technical ones, and this made it impossible to reach top results.
I got into dancing in my teen years, when I started to dance in the folk-dance group “Vecrīga”. This was the place where I became acquainted with ballet, classical dance, character dance and various folk-dances. Having spent three years in “Vecrīga” and having become closer with dancing, I looked for new opportunities to grow as a dancer and I went to Moscow to study at the Movement Direction Faculty of the Moscow State Art and Cultural University. But then the perestroika started, and I had to come back to Latvia.
As I returned to Latvia, I chose to start a family. I had two beautiful daughters – Anna and Stasija.
In the early 1990s, I worked as a movement consultant and choreographer for the youth TV programme “Skabarga”, as well as for the once very popular “Popiela”.
Later I started working with Latvian figure skaters as a choreographer. This continued for a period of 14 years, during which I worked with members of the Latvian national team, as well as participants of international training camps from all over the Baltics. My daughters, also being my students, took part in Winter Youth Olympics in 2007 and 2009, with Stasija also taking part in European and World Figure Skating Championships in 2008. Stasija was the champion of Latvia in 2008, and Anna was the vice-champion of Latvia in 2009.
I have also worked with the dance club “Dzintars”, dance school “Škutāna deju skola” and dance sport club “Vecrīga”, handing over my knowledge and experience to dancers of all age groups – from the smallest ones to adults who take part in international competitions.
During the period from 2003 to 2009, I danced professionally at Show Ballet “Excellent” headed by Alberts Kivlenieks, and this gave me an opportunity to take part in various exciting projects, including musicals “The Sound of Music” and “West Side Story”, as well as various other shows, and performances at corporative events of Latvian companies.
Since 2006, I have been partnering with VVP (Viktor Vilks Production), and the first project that I took part in was the marketing campaign of the shopping centre “Galerija Centrs” after its renovation, in which I was selected as the “face” or ambassador of the campaign.

I live according to the idea that it is important to continuously grow in one’s profession, as the modern age requires dynamic development. I have taken part in classical dance seminars and master classes at the Riga Choreography School, as well as in modern dance master classes of Olga Žitluhina during the Days of Dance.
In 2017, I received a certificate for taking part in the International Ballet Seminar organised by Open World Dance Federation in cooperation with the Riga Choreography School.
Pedagogy is my calling; therefore, I want to pass my knowledge on to children and help in the formation of future personalities by opening a modern, proficient and competitive dance school in Riga.
